Recently, Firefox lost all my bookmarks and appeared to look like a fresh install. Got that sorted, but everytime I start it up, it forgets my customisation of the toolbars (i.e. it keeps showing the Bookmarks toolbar, and the Google toolbar as a separate toolbar, rather than part of the search box.)

Any ideas as to how I can get it to 'remember' my settings for the next time I start it?

I know this isn't going to answer your question - google toolbar has a cool feature that you can install on any PC you use and syncs your bookmarks, cookies and anything you want (you can turn off some of the settings - cookies for example).

I sometimes get the problem you have, but when I shut it and restart it comes bacl to normal. Not much help to you though!

i stopped using IE and Firefox native bookmarking and switched to del.icio.us instead. Haven't looked back since. It'll solve your problem of loosing your bookmarks and you'll even be able to take your bookmarks wherever you go.
