Is it time we did something like this? Can we do something like this? Would you buy it at a premium price?

I would imagine most of the fuel in the UK comes from the North Sea either Norway or British

I was told once, that most of the oil from north sea is exported and the oil we use is imported. Something to do with trading and the economy but doesnt makes sense to me really. But kood be wrong.

So we suck the oil up out the sea bed, then ship it out to..... somewhere else, then buy in different oil from someone else for our own use?[Rolleyes]

Nae wonder we're turning into a nation of shopkeepers.[Rolleyes again]

By-the-way, knew you wouldn't be far away.;)

actually we don't really want to go there about oil when you think of BP when they were (something like 51%) owned by the goverment and what they done in Iran.

Yup, Fi's right, most of our oil is exported, but, the UK does retain some for use in other materials, such as furniture, plastics etc

opec and the price blah blah blah put that all to one side. and look to what is happening to our oil distribution in this country.

see all the major oil comapnies they only make money now in the exploration and mining of oil and that is where they want to be involved. (upstream).

In this country in the not to distasnt future the (downstream) refining petrol station commercial domestic farmers etc etc will be either done by well the French have Grangemouth reifnery America now have coryton

a Irish parent company DCC is the biggest distributor of oil bought shell distribution couple years back.

Take Aberdenn oil terminal of all the lorries that pickup and deliver from that terminal only two anr actual BP tankers delivering their own fuel to their customers. You will see less and less major filling stations and by major I mean Shell BP Esso eventually these companies will nto be involved in downstream at all.

Sorry if you thought I was implying anything about you personally...I wasn't
:D

I really have to ask at times...why do these fanatics want to do us harm?

Betcha its because of our governments polices over the last 50 -100 years

Bush and Blair should get the same treatment as Sadam!...They are all nutters!

But of course I will deny I said this when my US work visa runs out in July :)

me no daft!

So North Sea crude is too heavy for us, who uses it overseas and what for?

Plus what all about the condensate fields don't they produce some light crude?

I don't really know much about the downstream side of the business, hence the questions.
