We are down to 2-3 weeks to go :D
Is it OK to do the engine run-in period in one go (or almost)?
We are thinking of a trip down to see family on the south coast as this should run the engine in my the time we get back. We would probably do 2 days down and 2 days up and this should almost give us the complete engine run-in.
Is this ok or should it be done over a more extended period?

Don't see why not. Stay under 4500rpm and less than 95mph. On the m'way very your speed perhaps by driving for a while at 60 and then up to 75 or so. Also drop into 4th every now and again.

We were going to try and avoid the m-ways where possible anyway so that should give us the variation in speed etc needed.

Handbook states 1250. Must admit I took it fairly easy up to 1500 and then gradually increased the revs from there :)

i'll be doing a lot of travelling on tuesday and wed, a trip to London on Tue and a trip to Loch Ness on Wed :)
One of the mini owners at my work said she was told that 500 would be a sufficient run in period, but that sounds a little optomistic.

once i hit 1000 miles I guess ill start to rev it a bit harder, but until about 1500-2000 i wont push it too much

thats prolly wise. You wait this long to get it, so you can wait a little longer to use it to its full potential :P hehe.

I pretty much thrashed mine from the word go and haven't had any adverse effects. First service was at 8000 miles instead of 10K. It really loosens up at 4-5k and then just gets faster and faster:D
