Network help

Wonder if anybody on here can help, know there are a few computer buffs on here so here goes.

Basically the problem I'm faced with is that i have a router (D-Link DGL 4300) on my desk in my room, which is wired directly to my PC, and a PC next door runs off it on wifi. The signal will only get down to the 2nd floor (I'm on 3rd) due to old house having fairly thick brick walls restricting my wifi range.

Now we have a xbox 360, and we want to hook it onto xbox live. The room the consoles are in is on the ground floor (3 floors total) and is outside the range of the wifi.

I know i could run cat-5 right down to the room, but its a long way to be running cables and would prefer to avoid this if possible. What are my options in terms of getting a good wifi signal, and still retaining a decent ping down to that room.

I was looking at the new Netgear Rangemax NEXT Wireless-N Router
WNR834M http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/RangeMaxNEXTWirelessRoutersandGateways/WNR834M.aspx but am not sure it'll give me enough wireless signal, and if so the signal could still be pretty weak.

Any help from you guys would be superb.

or you could re-locate your router to the middle floor so that coverage is given above and below, thus sorting the problem. All you would need is one longer cat5 cable and modem cable to link to your computer and line... Or just one longer modem cable and run your pc off wireless too..:D

Either relocate or get the booster. Not many other options.
