Could a mod please make this a sticky as some members have already expressed an interest in going along and supporting our DMR friends. (so it doesn't get lost on other pages..;))

Also there will be no A & B run this year, so this is everyones chance to do the run. :approve:

Yep we are planning to do the run Saturday the 16th.

Do you know how many of you are gonna come and do the run with us?

How long did it take you guys to do the run?
As we haven't sorted a start time out yet.

We are free on sunday and want to find something to do/ drive to any ideas?

Craig
12th May 2007, 09:51 PM
Indy,

from reading the posts, I think about half a dozen cars will be in attendance, although if it is a nice day, it could be more..

The run.... we left Callander at approx 09:30hrs and got to Oban at approx 12:30. Stayed there for 1 hour and 30 mins and got to Balloch a about 17:30hrs. The roads were VERY busy on that day, so it should be a bit quicker for you.

As for the Sunday, depends what your in to and how far you want to travel. The Falkirk Wheel is very interesting, you could look round Stirling Castle, Wallace's Monument.. or you could take a drive to St Andrews (very beautiful, but a 2 hour journey there and back roughly)..

Sweeney
28th May 2007, 10:27 PM
You've lots to learn about me then im afraid haha! Latest example (one of many hundreds) trying to find eastern on russel road (not corstorphine road), had map print outs, actual map, sat nav on and left early and kind half knew what lefts and rights to take, spent 2 hours in the city centre before i eventually got there :D

Another was having to come home from work one day but a dif route from normal (only a 10/15min journey) ended up on m8 into glasgow, all in all a good 45mins journey

Craig
29th May 2007, 08:00 AM

We fancy this one as well. Trying to piece together all the bits of the thread, I've come up with.

It's on Saturday 16th June
Starts at Callander at 10.00am...........exactly where?
Meet at stirling Services at 9.15am
Use "Argyll and Bute" run notes..........can someone clever attache link?

People going:-

Indy + 10 from Englandshire
Graig & Jude
Sweeney.........till he gets lost!
Pacman
Neil & Lorna
The Weefossies
Crombers.......if he's sober?

Anyone else fancy it?

Can everyone confirm, so that Indy knows who to look out for.

Sweeney
13th June 2007, 07:21 PM
Thats it aye, I think its a car park on the left hand side as you get into callander? I found the link for the run notes but it isn't online anymore although im sure indy/craig have copies of the file?

Pacmans a maybe i think?
Rob stone is NOT going

Indy
13th June 2007, 07:55 PM
The start is 10 am in the carpark behind the Dreadnought Hotel in Callander , wherever that is.:)

Run notes are here ................ http://doncasterminiregister.co.uk/phpBB/dload.php?action=file&file_id=18

But I dont know if you can view them without being registered on DMR.

Is the car park in Callander on station road?

One of our group has printed 20 run notes off at work.

Craig
14th June 2007, 01:08 PM
I don't know the exact name of the street, it is the main road through Callander. If you are coming from Aberfoyle and coming over the dukes pass, you will come into Kilmahog and turn right. once you come into the town you will see the Dreadnought Hotel on your left (after a Tesco Metro). Turn left directly after the hotel and the car park is behind it.

If coming from the Stirling direction, it is near the end of the main street on the right hand side. :D :D

Indy

Apologies that we gave up during the run:( but I was feeling really bad. Don't know what was worse, the bad head, the sore foot or the "snotty" nose!! "They shoot horses don't they!"
Hope the weather improved, it certainly hasn't back in North Berwick.

By the way, there was a very nice Englandshire grey mini with 4 spots....the only way to go.... but they all had "angel Eyes" in them. Can I ask, did they get added to BMW spots or were the whole units bought separately? Thought it looked really good.

Apologies again, especially when the nice folks from DMR had travelled so far. Indy if you could copy / paste this into DMR forum, that would be appreciated.

Craig
16th June 2007, 07:51 PM
Firstly Malcolm, sorry you weren't feeling well. and the weather did improve... only little showers and no rain after leaving Oban. :D

Must say a HUGE thanks to the guys and girls from DMR. They made as all feel very welcome and what a laugh we had.. It's the fastest the Argyll and Bute run has been done in... ;) :D

Some highlights are Neil leading the pack and getting lost near Lochgoilhead, and then some of the DMR guys (Deano I think) getting to the bottom of Glen Douglas, deciding he had gone the wrong way and game back up (a single track road) to be met by the rest of the pack :D :D Oh yeah and Sweeney got lost twice, but that's not really news.. :D

I have to say, I much prefer being in a run than organising it and enjoyed this Argyll Run more than any before.. :)

Sweeney
16th June 2007, 07:53 PM

I had f*** all to do with the two people getting lost, i just happened to follow people who i assumed knew where they were going, lessons learnt though ;)

Enjoyed the run, even though my arse was making buttons when we weren't stuck behind traffic or a caravan but hey ill get over it eventually :P gave me a chance to get the tyres nice and worn in a little. Was good meeting the DMR folk even though they are bloody mental, do anything for a good photo/video

Great day guys. Thanks to DMR. Weather wasn't too bad at least it stayed dry.
First time I've seen someone hanging out the passenger window taking rear facing photos while the driver overtakes  :D you should really wear a harness for stunts like that. ;)
Shame you had to pull out Malcolm :( hope your feeling better.
Loved the bit where the two groups meet each other coming the other way on the single track road.:D :D It was a strange moment:confused:  took a few seconds to work out what was going on, like a mirror image coming towards you.

There is talk at DMR about coming up next year, now people have seen the video.:D

We would do it about this time next year so theres no Midges.

Would be able to reccommend any B&Bs or cheap hotels where we could all stop? as it would be too cold for camping.

Craig

Chris, if you stay in the Stirling area, there are 2 or 3 Travel Hotels (Express by Holiday Inn, Travel Lodge and Premier Travel Inn). which are failry cheap if you are sharing the cost.

Not too sure on B & B's, however I have stayed at these lodges before and you can book for however many days you want. http://www.touristholidays.demon.co.uk/ It works out really cheap and there are tons of places to eat round there.

Let me know if these are any good or if you want info on a particular town (as I know you stayed near Aberfoyle the last time).
